Resources for Low Income Dog Owners

One of our goals is to help Marion County pet owners find the resources they need so they cankeep their pets.  Our city shelter and rescues are overflowing with strays and owner surrenders. As a result, healthy adoptable dogs are being euthanized. There is help available to avoid this.

Indianapolis Animal Care Services

  • Free microchips.  No appointment needed.

Hoosier Fix

FIDO (Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside)

  • Spay/neuter funding and transport
  • Dog food pantry first Saturday of each month
  • Fence building program
  • Outreach to owners of dogs living outside

SOAR (Street Outreach Animal Response)

  • Helps the homeless and people at risk to be homeless keep their pets with vaccines, veterinary needs, pet food, pet supplies and a number of other things, including clothing, water and hygiene kits for their owners
  • Crisis response fosters for hospitalization or similar emergency situations

Indy Dog Advocates

  • Help raise awareness of canine overpopulation crisis and assist individuals in finding appropriate available resources
  • Bucks for Balls program:
  • Low income dog owners
  • Marion County residents
  • Dogs only, but cats in the same household are also eligible
  • Subsidy program that greatly reduces the cost of spay/neuter and vaccines
  • Subsidies are also provided to local rescues that pull dogs from IACS or 50 lb+ stray dogs found in Marion County in their rescue

Cicoa Pet Connection

  • FOR SENIOR CITIZENS ONLY
  • Provides and supplies such as dog/cat food (wet/dry), cat litter, training pads, leashes, and carriers

The Stable Pet Food Pantry

  • Offers dog and cat food and cat litter
  • Only open 2nd Saturday of each month from 10 AM-12:30PM
  • At the Church of the Nativity, 7300 Lantern Road

Eastside Pawject/Christian Park Pet Food Pantry

  • Resources for pet owners on the east side of Indianapolis  including pet food pantries, low-cost or free microchipping, and connections to affordable spay/neuter and vaccination services
